Shopping with Lana.

Ok. I really need these denim leggings from Free People. I am really loving this denim legging trend - they're everywhere if you haven't noticed. Some designers do it right - thick denim, faux pockets/back pockets, sturdy yet soft wasitband. Others just looks cheap and gross. But if you're looking for a truly comfy, chic pair of leggings, try these. I tried them on at Belk's last week and I was in love. If it wasn't for my bet with my Dad I'd definitely be setting money aside for these. At $68 they're fairly reasonable. They even work for dressy looks because they're nice and dark! I hope they still have them by November...or else I'm losing a bet :P

Can we please take a moment to discuss how gorgeous this tunic is?! I've been on the Free People site a lot now. It's on sale for $70, which is not in my budget right now. So I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for a cheaper version. But I love the thought of a big floral tunic. I am obsessed with floral dresses, but tunics I have not :( How cute would this look with skinny jeans or leggings (denim leggings...) and a pair of boots? Or with BF shorts and gladiators?
Oh Forever 21,how I love you. These shoes just showed up on the website. I like :) They're so different! I like the antique Japanese vibe. I bet these shoes would get a lot of compliments. And what a way to glam up an LBD! At $25.80 they're a steal. Wonder if they're comfy.

These Are Hard Times To Fall In Love

Work clothes suck. Here's a fun number that I enjoyed putting together. I've had that hat for years and been waiting to put it to use.

Skirt, American Eagle; Socks&Heels, Merona/Mossimo; T-shirt, Altru (Urban Outfitters); Cardigan, Simply Vera Vera Wang; Hat, thrifted

Yay socks + heels. I'm branching out. Today I even tried on my old flares and thought they might be cute again - after years of skinny jeans only. What's gotten into me?!

*Currently wanting Free People's denim leggings, but unable to get them because I made a bet with my Dad that I could last 6 months without buying jeans. If I fail I owe him $50. That was such a bad idea.

Odessa

Last night I got crafty. While watching about 5 hours of Grey's Anatomy season 2 on my day off (I know...sad day), I decided to make my oversized tie-dye t-shirt more awesome. Mom tie-dyed it for me when I was a freshman in college and I love the colors. After seeing a girl with a cut-out tee last week, I decided this shirt needed a makeover...
And here's the new headband I made out of the collar!

I ruched the flap of shirt still hanging down and sewed it up onto the collar. Then I made three "flowers" out of scraps of rainbow fabric squares. So viola: a tie-dyed, floral headband! I think it looks really cute:)

P.S. I'm super excited about the fashion sketching book I bought. After I get my proportions right, look for some drawings! :P

Yellow Iris

Yesterday I sat outside and read for over two hours, and it was lovely. I had to be at school all day for graduation practice and Baccalaureate rehearsals since I was marshaling. Now that I'm out for the summer, I actually have time to read books I want to read, so I went to the library this week and rekindled an old love - Agatha Christie novels and short stories. Yesterday I read short stories in a pretty sundress and I felt marvelous.

Dress: Sugar Lips; Shoes: Chinese Laundry; Cross-body bag: Target
Reading murder mysteries never gets old. Favorite genre :)

P.S. I got an adorable top from Free People on sale today (Belk), some cute khaki shorts for like $6.50, nail polish, and faux pearl earrings (Forever 21). So excited about those! I also found Guess khaki pants last night at a thrift store for $1. I mean, how much cheaper can you get? Why am I on a khaki craze? Gotta wear it for alumnae weekend...

Sun Hands

I went thrifting at a new store last week. This is what I found:

Purple print dress: J.Crew; Green Print dress: American Eagle

Needless to say I was extremely excited. I got the J. Crew dress for $5 and the American Eagle dress for $1. Some of the best deals I've ever gotten - which is saying a lot! So, I think I found a new place. They have everything from dresses to jeans to home furnishings. I envision many trips over there after my internship this summer (it's right down the street).

Today's outing was to Urban Outfitters with my bro. I'm on a budget (YUCK! But thanks to encouragement from my fiancĂ©...) so I ended up not getting any clothes. But I found this awesome nail polish for 99¢ each! & they're colors I don't have yet. I'm on the green trend, apparently.

This looks like a granny smith apple.
This other shade looks like pretty green clay.

'Tis all! :)
