Let's Go Far Away

It's lovely and sunny here today. It's so hard for me to decide what to wear when the possibilities are limitless with this weather! But since I'm stuck inside writing papers and I have work later tonight, I decided to dress cheerfully :)

I used to hate paisley. It reminded me of crabby old women. But this season I'm feeling paisley in my future. When I saw this dress I had to have it; the print cheered me up and made me feel more in touch with my bohemian side. I found this clutch last week and I've only used it once - I have too much junk in my purse! But I'm totally in love with the color and the clasp. Resolution for summer: simplify my life by carrying a clutch & wear more patterns.

This is by far one of the most simple outfits I've ever put on, but I feel like it makes me feel pretty & un-fussy. I think there's a lot to be said for that ;)

I Hate Shorts

...But not these! I found these little gems while at work the other day (one of the inherent dangers of working at TJ Maxx while in college...). I did the whole "I can't buy these, I need to save my money" thing, until I couldn't stop thinking about them. I had to take my shorts-crush to the next level and cave in:

These Velvet Heart shorts are made out of such a lightweight denim, and the slight pleating is cute, not matronly. I wore them to choral rehearsal yesterday and felt so happy inside! It's going to be a good summer :)I can't wait for the next warm day so I can wear them again...

Inspirations...

I have always enjoyed reading music and fashion blogs. They're some of what inspires me the most in my waking hours not consumed by school and the rest of life. I thought about starting a blog a few months ago and then decided I didn't have time. Then I realized I needed a way to decompress - something I hadn't tried yet. And since I'm all about trying new things...here it goes.

My name is Lana, and I love fashion. I love nail polish, skinny jeans, boots, flats, magazines, thrifting, and wearing the unexpected. I find inspiration in music(since it's a huge part of who I am),nature and iconic fashionistas from all time periods. But mostly, I find that fashion is something you create for yourself. Whatever inspires you affects who you are, and that translates through your look. People may call fashion shallow, but to me it is an extension of yourself, and what's shallow about that? Since I'm no veteran designer or blogger by any means, this is an experiment of sorts. But I also know that a lot of bloggers started like me and ended up doing some pretty cool stuff. I'm an optimist :)
